Dr. Justin Hsieh spent his childhood years in Taiwan and came to the US when he was 16. He is trilingual, speaking Taiwanese, Mandarin, and English. His passion for dentistry runs deep, his great aunt was the first female dentist in Taiwan, graduating from Tokyo University Dental School. Dr. Hsieh is passionate about his work and brings a level of professionalism to the Newport Beach dental community on par with the best of the best. He believes in strong leadership, loyalty and compassionate care. He and his wife Iris work together in the practice and welcome patients like they welcome friends into their home. Birch Dental is the culmination of years of hard work and big dreams.
As a graduate of the University of California, San Diego and Boston University, Dr. Justin is an academic powerhouse. He went on to complete a one-year post-doctorate implant focused residency at the University of Texas, Houston. Since then he has completed the GIDE/UCLA advanced program in implant dentistry and the Invisalign® advanced certification program.
Dr. Justin is serious about dentistry, but full of fun outside the office. He loves to play Legos with his kids and just took up skateboarding after taking a few years off. If you get the chance, ask him about his band, Boba Monkey. He is also committed to giving back, partnering with local nonprofit groups.
Birch Dental is conveniently located in the heart of busy Newport Beach, Dr. Justin wants to be the place busy professionals go for their dental care. He caters to people who need high-quality care while staying connected to work.

Raised in Glendale, Arizona, Dr. Ammar is fluent in English and Arabic — and fluent in making
patients smile!
After earning his dental degree from Midwestern University, he completed a residency at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, gaining advanced experience in patient care.
Coming from a family of four physician brothers, Dr. Ammar proudly forged his own path in dentistry. His favorite part of the job? Connecting with patients and helping them feel confident about their smiles.
Outside the office, you’ll find him at the gym, relaxing on the beach, or unwinding with a good video game after a long day.
Iris was born and raised in Taiwan but fell in love with the United States when she visited with her parents as a 9-year-old. She returned to the US as an international student at age 16 and went on to earn a Master of Science in Biotechnology at University of California Irvine and an undergraduate degree in Biological Science from University of California Riverside.
Iris grew up watching her parents work together as a team to run her father’s medical practice in Taiwan. This gave her confidence that she could assist her husband Dr. Justin in running his dream practice with all the knowledge and experiences her parents passed down to her. Though her professional background is more scientific, Iris welcomes this opportunity to explore her abilities as the office manager for Birch Dental.
Iris and Dr. Justin dated for nine years before they were married, and they are now the proud parents of a daughter and son. In her free time, Iris loves doing arts and crafts, making cute toys and houses out of boxes for her kids to play. She also loves taking photos for her family and friends.
Iris says: “I am working and raising two kids, so I understand how tough it is to look after yourself, but our health is very important. We have to be there for our loved ones, and I will do my very best to make sure you are healthy and connected to your work and family at the same time!”
Mary Jo “MJ” Nguyen began her career in dentistry as a Registered Dental Assistant, gaining hands-on experience working chairside with patients. Originally from the small town of Santa Maria on California’s Central Coast, she moved to Orange County to pursue a career in healthcare where she discovered her passion for dentistry.
MJ is dedicated to helping patients understand the importance of oral health and guiding them toward achieving confident, healthy smiles. Known for her compassionate approach, she understands that visiting the dental office can feel intimidating and strives to create a comfortable, reassuring experience for every patient.
Outside of the office, MJ enjoys staying active through fitness, traveling, and trying new experiences. She’s always up for a new adventure!
Kathleen was born and raised in West Covina, California, in a big and loud loving family. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and her Master’s in Health Administration from West Coast University, and is now also a registered nurse. Kathleen enjoys connecting with patients and helping them achieve their oral hygiene goals. In her free time, she loves baking, working out, going to the driving range, and spending quality time with her son Wes and her dog Bane.
Eric grew up as an Orange County native, born and raised in Anaheim California, right next to Disneyland, so he grew up with a front-row seat to the fireworks.
He earned his BA in Chicano Studies from Cal Poly Pomona and later graduated from Cerritos College’s dental hygiene program in 2022.
When Eric’s not in the office, he enjoys road trips, national parks, and recharging in nature. He is the youngest of five, the self-proclaimed star child, and is a huge family man. Eric will remind you to drink water, and send late-night memes. He takes his work seriously-but never himself.
Jennifer grew up in sunny Laguna Niguel, California. She studied at South Coast Regional Occupational Program and earned her Associate’s Degree in Dental Assisting from Orange County Dental Institute in 2016. Currently, Jennifer is working toward her (RDAEF) license.
As a Dental Assistant, Jennifer loves seeing the transformation in her patients—not just in their smiles, but in their confidence. She values building genuine connections throughout their dental journeys.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys hiking, visiting museums, taking pottery classes, and spending time outdoors connecting with nature. Family is very important to her, and they often gather for big cookouts filled with laughter and joy.
Brenda was born and raised in Santa Ana, California. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Dental Assisting and certification in radiology from Cypress College. She enjoys meeting new people and being part of a team that feels like family. Brenda is also a certified lash technician, combining her passion for beauty and personal connection. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking, fostering animals, and spending time with her two dogs. As the oldest of six in a big, blended family, Brenda values love, laughter, and strong family bonds. Her goal is always to make a positive impact on others—both in and out of the office.
Patricia “Patty ” Romero is a dedicated dental assistant who grew up in Santa Ana, California, after being born in Alabama, and has spent most of her life in Orange County. She received her training in a hands-on clinical environment, gaining valuable experience working directly with patients and alongside various doctors. Over time, she has expanded her skills from general dentistry into orthodontics. Patricia holds certifications in CPR and AED through the American Heart Association, as well as infection control certification. She loves being part of a team that genuinely cares for both patients and staff, and takes pride in creating a comfortable, welcoming environment while getting to know each patient’s story. Outside of the office, Patricia enjoys going on walks and traveling to explore new places, whether it’s a different country or a nearby city. She comes from a large, close-knit Mexican family and was raised in Santa Ana with her extended relatives; her immediate family includes her mom, stepdad, two brothers, and one sister.
